Julien never expected to work at a winery. For years, he dreamed of being a dairy farmer in Auvergne, but his parents urged him to study viticulture instead. A long-time assistant to Dominque Derrain, Julien to begin vinifying his own wine in the basement and a new winery was born under the moniker La Sextant. At first, Julien experimented with purchased fruit from friends in Saint Aubin and in the Maconnais. Then in 2011 he purchased a very small plot of old-vines aligote just down the road in Puligny. Julien is a young, talented Bungundian winemaker on the way up.
